2025 Queensland Music Awards see multiple MIC alumni wins and nominations!

This year the 2025 Queensland Music Awards were held at The Fortitude Music Hall and spotlighted a wave of fresh and established talent which saw several Music Industry College alumni among the finalists. Recently graduated Music Industry College students opened the show with a medley performance of The Saints, I’m Stranded and Powerfinger’s (Baby I’ve Got You) On My Mind. Notably, Thelma Plum was nominated in both the Pop and Indigenous categories, while Sahara Beck and Asha Jefferies landed nominations in Rock and Folk respectively. Rising young artists and graduates from MIC including Lottie McLeod who took out Young Artist of the Year and Jon Trotta were also shortlisted for a Youth (ages 10–17) Award. Their inclusion underscores how the QMAs continue to serve as a key platform for emerging Queensland musicians and highlights MIC’s ongoing influence in nurturing the next generation of artists.
